Shared Ministry
In 2008, after considerable discussion and exploration, and with the support and encouragement of Bishop Jelinek and the Diocesan Council, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Rochester and St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Kasson entered into a Shared Ministry relationship which included a commitment to calling a seminary trained, newly ordained priest in our diocese to serve as Curate at St. Luke’s and Priest-in-Charge at St. Peter’s. The Rev. Justin Chapman served both congregations from July of 2008 to July of 2011. A Shared Ministry Working Group which is comprised of the Wardens of both congregations, the Rector of St. Luke’s and the Curate, meet regularly to assist in developing and implementing this vision in each of our Faith Communities.
Each of our congregations have been blessed through this intentional relationship and we intend to continue to live into the implications of what it means to move beyond shared clergy to shared ministry as we begin a new season of Shared Ministry with the Rev. Colin Maltbie.
