Waiting in Joyful Hope…

Waiting…90 % of life is about waiting it seems…

We wait for all kinds of things…test results, a phone call or text from a spouse or partner or child…acceptance letters…vacation…the return of a loved one deployed in service to our country…the death of a loved one in hospice care…the birth of a child.

You can add to the list can’t you?  What are you most waiting for?  Advent is a season that reminds us of our waiting and asks us to consider HOW we wait…anxiously…in fear or worry…or patiently…in hope and trust!

As people of Faith, we are encouraged to hold on to hope…even in the midst of things that challenge us…upset us…discourage us…confuse us…worry us.  There is nothing that can separate us from the love of God made known to us in Jesus…nothing…

Advent begins a NEW YEAR…a time to give thanks for what has been, amend what needs to be changed within us…so that we can spend this season renewing once again our hope and faith in God’s abiding presence.

So, this Advent…bring whatever burdens or worries you to worship…and offer it in prayer…and leave it here so that you may leave worship encouraged…renewed…and watchful for the signs of hope around you!

I’ve written an overview about our Worship during Advent at St. Luke’s which can be found by clicking on Concerning the Service Advent.

Advent blessings,

Douglas

    Dear Father Doug,

Thak you for the inspirational letter “Waiting in Joyful Hope”. I am printing it out and putting it in my purse. It will help me with all my trials and tribulations this Advent Season.

    Thank you again,

    Have a Wonderful Day!
