Consecration Sunday and St. Luke’s Day – 14 October

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

As People of Faith, we worship, we proclaim, we teach, we serve, we care, we witness!

Fifty-one years ago, after a year of construction, the first Worship Service was held on the last Sunday in October, 1961 at the newest MISSION CHURCH in the Episcopal Church in Minnesota!  Because of God’s continuous blessings, we have cause to celebrate!  On Sunday, 14 October, we will celebrate our annual Feast Day and our annual invitation to support the Mission and Ministry of our Faith Community through the Consecration Sunday Process.  Our Guest Preacher will be the Rev. Devon Anderson, who serves as the Rector of Trinity Church in Excelsior, Minnesota!.  We are convinced by your example that we continue to become more and more, FAITHFUL STEWARDS ENGAGING GOD’S MISSION!

We invite you to plan now to attend two important events that day:  Worship at the 8 a.m. or 10 a.m. Service and the Celebration Brunch immediately following each service that morning (a complimentary catered brunch!)  If you want to make an offering for the brunch, place your gift in the Offering Basin on Consecration Sunday.  There will be no Evening Service on Saturday, 13 October.

This spiritual-growth-oriented process, which we have used at St. Luke’s for several years, is designed to enrich our understanding of Christian Stewardship.  Rather than focusing on the need of the church to receive, the experience concentrates on the need of the giver to give as an expression of their on-going spiritual transformation.  The Wardens and Vestry remain vigilant in their stewardship of your resources.  In 2012, we have 128 households who have made a financial pledge and/or are givers of record.  Since 2004, our pledged income has grown from $ 247,169 to $ 317,902 in 2012.

We believe you are committed to the mission and ministry of St. Luke’s.  We also believe you will make every effort to participate in worship and the Celebration Brunch which follows and to make your financial commitment as an act of worship that morning.

No one will call on you at home for a pledge.  Reservation Cards will be distributed Reservation Cards during the services over the next two weekends to make sure everyone has the opportunity to participate.  Please complete the card, even if you are not able to come for worship and the brunch.  Please return it to the parish by mail or by dropping it in the Offering Basin.  A member of the Parish Leadership will contact you personally to encourage your participation in one of the Sunday Brunches if we have not received a Reservation Card by Sunday, 7 October.

If you are not able to participate but want to make a pledge of support so that your card can be included on Sunday, 14 October, pledge cards are available in the Parish Office and also on the table in the Church entryway.

I look forward to seeing you on Consecration Sunday / St. Luke’s Day on Sunday, 14 October!

Every blessing,
